1st4sport Qualifications is delighted to announce a partnership renewal with The Football Association [The FA].
Both parties have been working in partnership since 2000, ensuring The FA’s regulated football qualifications are top of the league.
1st4sport Qualifications specialise in offering vocational and occupational qualifications in the active leisure, learning and well-being sector, and were the first awarding organisation to regulate qualifications specifically designed to support national governing bodies in the development of their coaches at Levels 1–3.
Over 360,000 learners have gained certification in the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Football qualification (FA Level 1) while the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football qualification (FA Level 2) has seen over 54,000 certifications since the turn of the millennium.
Other qualifications have been offered in conjunction with 1st4sport over the years such as the FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football course and the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Leadership Through Football (L2LTF now no longer available).
Currently, 47 County FAs, 43 private training providers and three Armed Forces are reaping the rewards of the link-up, as well as the ultimate beneficiary of the courses…the learners undertaking them and in turn the players that they work with, all with the ambition of inspiring, empowering and supporting coaches to be better teachers of the game in order to better service and grow the grassroots game.
With the renewal of this contract, The FA will benefit from additional services that ensure the qualifications remain, valid, reliable and fit for purpose.
These include crucial quality assurance services which support all recognised centres to drive quality and standards across the country, as well as providing an independent view and support mechanisms regarding; complaints, appeals and investigations, special consideration and reasonable adjustment arrangements.
Jay Roper, Vocational Education Lead at The FA (FA Education) stated: “These are exciting times for our industry and all those who are a part of it. The recent shifts and changes at 1st4sport Qualifications and their sister charity UK Coaching (formerly sports coach UK) are positive and there has been significant development and improvement shown across the organisation(s) within the last 12 months.
“We have undertaken a thorough review and procurement process to discover the best possible Awarding Organisation partner to ensure FA Education is best supported to achieve its objective of creating a culture of lifelong learning, through the delivery of high quality qualifications and CPD. We’re confident that this is the right move for The FA but more importantly, our CFA partners, other training providers and the learners who come on our courses hoping for an inspiring, empowering and supportive learning experience. This was the next logical step to take following the recent success found with the revised Level 1 and 2 coaching courses.
“There are some encouraging conversations taking place regarding our broader grassroots provision which will only further enhance the quality of experience received by CFAs, other training providers and of course the learners themselves.
“We believe in putting learners at the heart of decision making and I feel this agreement shows our commitment to that.”
John Clark, Head of Learning and Assessment Services at 1st4sport Qualifications said: “We are delighted that 1st4sport and The FA will continue to work together on awarding the Level 1 Award in Coaching Football and Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.
“The services we provide ensure that the Governing Body will receive real added value in its qualifications.
“With over 50,000 learners progressing on our suite of coaching qualifications across all sports each year, we know that the football coaching workforce is receiving a product that is fit for purpose and will empower learners to develop and in turn inspire an active nation.”
