1st4sport Qualifications welcomes the decision to double the funding for adult English and maths functional skills, and for English and maths within an Apprenticeship, as announced by the Minister for Skills, Matthew Hancock, on Tuesday 20 November.
The Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 placed a duty on Ofqual (the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) to set and publish general conditions of recognition, which all recognised awarding organisations like 1st4sport Qualifications are now required to comply with. To ensure that we comply fully with these conditions we have revised our systems, publications and guidance.
We would like to thank all those who responded to our survey on the new Athena home page, the 1st4sport Quality Assurance System which was launched on 1 August 2012. The feedback is invaluable and continues to help us to meet the needs of all of our centres.

As a result of the implementation of the new Ofqual general conditions for recognised awarding organisations that came into effect in May 2011, we have been required to refine many of our key processes, systems and documentation. We have now submitted our compliance statement to Ofqual and will shortly be ready to implement the resulting changes.
