Working in partnership with Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust and West Herts College
Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust has been working in partnership with West Herts College to guide its students to become the football coaches of the future.
The Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust and West Herts College joined forces to form the Centre of Football Excellence – an academic programme designed to give learners a grounding in football coaching.
This exciting programme gives players between the ages of 16 and 19 the chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience, and guides them to become football coaches of the future.
Why 1st4sport Qualifications works for the Centre
The Centre chose to build the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Leadership through Football (QCF) into the programme to enable students to develop leadership skills. The qualification was perfect for the Centre to offer as it gave learners an overview of the different pathways available to them (through football).
The Centre has been delighted with the results; 31 students have already completed the Award. The learners progressed with some employed by the Trust to deliver coaching sessions across the wider community programme.
‘I’d recommend the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Leadership through Football (QCF)to any organisation. It provides young learners with an introduction to a number ofleadership roles within the sport and is excellent at developing the key skills needed toperform these roles.’
