Developed in partnership with the British Racing Authority (BHA) the 1st4sport Level 3 Award in the Principles of Transporting Horses by Road on Short Journeys provides a benefit to learners who already work with horses or are wishing to work with horses and want to gain a qualification to enable them to transport horses on short journeys over 65km (40 miles) but not exceeding 8 hours. The qualification will give the learner the skills and knowledge required to transport horses safely and legally.

Learners are required to:

Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport Learner Pack, learning resources and certificate. Centre recognition, qualification approval and annual centre fees may also be applicable.
