 This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)*.

Developed in partnership with the British Racing Authority (BHA), the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care is designed to provide the relevant knowledge and understanding of how to look after horses and carry out general stable management routines to people who have an interest in, and may want to work within, this area but have little previous experience.

Learners are required to:

  • have been accurately identified*
  • able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

 NB. It is recommended that potential learners have an interest in the area and/or some experience to ensure that this is the correct qualification for them.

* The identify check must be completed in the course induction

Learners must successfully achieve all 6 mandatory units to achieve the qualification and a total of 30 credits must be obtained.

Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport Learner Pack, learning resources and certificate. Centre recognition, qualification approval and annual centre fees may also be applicable.
