Developed in partnership with the British Racing Authority (BHA), the 1st4sport Entry Level Award in Catching and Leading, Grooming and Rugging Up a Horse (Entry 3) is designed to deliver an introduction to horse care to people who have an interest in horses and may want to work with them but have little previous experience. The qualification will give the learner the basic skills and knowledge required to catch, lead, groom and rug up a horse under supervision and will prepare them for further training.

Learners are required to:

• have been accurately identified*
• able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

NB. It is recommended that potential learners have an interest in the area and/or some experience to ensure that this is the correct qualification for them.

The qualification is divided into the following units:

Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport certificate. Centre recognition, qualification approval and annual centre fees may also be applicable.
