To find out how to apply to deliver this qualification see the How to Apply section. There are no costs involved in applying or becoming a 1st4sport recognised centre.

The 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is for learners who need to be qualified in all aspects of assessment. Specifically, it is for those who assess occupational competence both in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding outside of the workplace (eg in a workshop, classroom or other training environment). The qualification is transferable to any sector your learners have occupational competence in and provides a national benchmark of good practice for England. Learners may wish to continue their professional development by up-skilling to become an internal verifier by completing the 1st4sport Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

*Please note there may be exceptions to the above. Further information about the EQF can be found on the EQF Portal.

Prior to registration, learners are required to be 18 years or over.

It is also recommended that learners have an appropriate vocational or competency-based qualification at least one level above the qualification they will be assessing.

To achieve the qualification, learners must have access to assessment opportunities in own specialist area.

The qualification is divided into the following units:

Title Accreditation No. GLH Credit
1 Understanding the principles and practices of assessment D/601/5313 24 3
2 Assess occupational competence in the work environment H/601/5314 30 6
3 Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding F/601/5319 30 6

Unlike many other awarding bodies, who just supply you with the basic qualification standards, we go that extra mile to support you by providing:

  • full and comprehensive Learner Packs, which include a full set of structured assessment tasks to help you deliver and assess the qualification
  • informative learning resources that are included in your registration/certification fee
  • tutor/assessor guidance notes, which include sample answers to support you when assessing your learners
  • online qualification administration, enabling you to process learners quickly and effectively, and making the records we hold on your learners accessible to you at the click of a button.

Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport Learner Pack, learning resources and certificate. Centre recognition, qualification approval and annual centre fees may also be applicable.
