This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)*.

Developed in partnership with British Weight Lifting, the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Weight Lifting provides learners aged 18 and over with an introduction to the principles/practice of safe, ethical and effective management and coaching of weight lifting coaching sessions to adults and young people in an appropriate environment. It’s designed for individuals preparing to work in a weight lifting coaching environment who wish to independently coach weight lifting to young people and adults, usually within a club environment. Recognised as the industry standard level 2 qualification for coaching weight lifting in the UK achieving the qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles as a weight lifting coach or learners may wish to explore other industry-relevant roles which include:

  • Weight Lifting Official
  • Sports Volunteer.

The qualification is also excellent continuous professional development (CPD) for exercise and fitness industry professionals via The Register of Exercise Professionals**(REPs) – an ideal way to improve and broaden their skill set.

Prior to registration learners are required to:

  • be appropriately identified
  • at least 18 years of age
  • hold the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Weight Lifting, or recognised equivalent
  • able to communicate effectively in English.

There are no further prerequisites prior to certification other than successful completion of all related 1st4sport assessed tasks, enabling full coverage of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for this qualification.

Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport Learner Pack, learning resources and certificate. Centre recognition, qualification approval and annual centre fees may also be applicable.

All learners being registered for RQF qualifications are required to have a Unique Learner Number (ULN) issued by the Learner Register.
