1st4sport Level 3 Award for Tutors and Assessors in Sport

This qualification is designed to provide learners with an introduction to tutoring and assessing in the sports environment, specifically tailored to the delivery and assessment of 1st4sport Coaching qualifications. It has been developed as an industry and provider-specific qualification for learners who do not require the industry standard introduction to teaching qualification, the 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

The qualification is composed of three mandatory components.

The qualification is designed for those aspiring to tutor and assess the 1st4sport Coaching qualifications, where this qualification is identified as appropriate for the qualification workforce. Prior to accessing a programme of learning, learners must:

  • be accurately identified
  • be 18 years of age or above
  • hold a relevant vocational sports qualification in the subject area/sport they aspire to tutor and assess, and at least the same level
  • be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).

There are no additional requirements for certification other than successful completion of all assessment requirements.

This qualification may lead to paid employment in the tutoring and assessing of sports coaching programmes, as part of a governing body of sport’s education workforce or for generic sport qualifications.

The qualification will also enable you to progress to further education and training qualifications. The qualification sits within a suite of progressive education and training qualifications, and supports direct progression onto the 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Delivering Learning, 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Education and Training, 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally-Related Achievement, 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment or the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees, and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
