This qualification is designed to provide you with an introduction to coaching sport and physical activity at an assistant level. Depending on your age , this qualification may support a role in the workplace, either in paid or voluntary occupations, as support for a Level 2 of Level 3 qualified coach.

This qualification is designed to introduce and develop the skills required to support the delivery of coaching activities to a group of participants in a safe and inclusive manner, under the support of more qualified coaches. This Level 1 qualification, therefore, is also designed to provide suitable support and progression for you if you intend to develop within this area at higher levels.
Successful achievement of the qualification enables you to apply the principles of safe and effective sport and physical activity sessions to a group of participants, under the supervision of more qualified coaches. You will develop an understanding of appropriate coaching skills, including the knowledge and ability to support the delivery and review of coaching sessions

Prior to registration you are required to:

  • be appropriately identified
  • be at least 14 years of age
  • be able to communicate effectively in English.

The qualification will enable successful learners to progress to other qualifications in a related area, such as:

  • 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching (Sport and Physical Activity)
  • 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Developing Community Activities for Youth at Risk

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees, and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification and a 1st4sport Learner Pack.
