1st4sport Level 3 Award in Delivering Learning (QCF)
This qualification is designed to provide learners with an introduction to teaching/training in the further education and skills sector. It has been developed as an introduction to teaching qualification for learners who do not require the larger industry standard introduction to teaching qualification, the 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
It is a knowledge-based teaching qualification which has no minimum teaching practice requirement, and therefore, it may be undertaken by individuals who are not currently in a teaching role. However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in microteaching. The qualification is composed of one mandatory unit.
 Microteaching is an activity where trainee teachers prepare and deliver a short teaching and learning session to their peers and then evaluate their practice.
The qualification is designed for those aspiring to teach or new to teaching in the further education and skills sector. Prior to accessing a programme of learning, learners must be 18 years of age or above.
The 1st4sport Level 3 Award in Delivering Learning provides an introduction to teaching. It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as:
- individuals who are not required by their employer to achieve the Level 3 Award in Education and Training
- individuals not currently teaching or training – achievement of the qualification does not require practice other than micro-teaching unless units from the Learning and Development suite of qualifications are selected
- individuals currently teaching and training, including those who have just begun teaching and training
- individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a qualification that provides and introduction to teaching.
This qualification can help learners to progress in teaching/training and support roles in a wide range of organisations in the education and training sector. These include; Public sector organisations, Private sector organisations, Adult and Community Education.
Holders of this qualification can progress to the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or other higher level teaching qualifications depending upon the role and associated teaching responsibilities.
Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees, and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
