The objective of the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rounders is to provide a benefit to learners through an introduction into the principles/practice of safe, ethical and effective management and coaching of Rounders coaching sessions to adults and/or young people in an appropriate environment.

This qualification is supported by the NSG for Rounders comprised of the National Governing Body for Rounders in England (Rounders England), as the trade association and employers for Rounders, and rounders representatives from the other home nations. A range of technical experts from within the National Source Group for Rounders have provided technical input in the development of this qualification.

The qualification is also endorsed by the trade association for coaches, UK Coaching, as meeting its UKCC criteria.

The qualification is designed to prepare aspiring coaches for employment as a Rounders Coach in paid or voluntary roles. It is appropriate for existing Rounders Coaching Assistants (UKCC Level 1) wishing to further develop coaching skills and deployment opportunities in Rounders.

Learners need to be 17 years of age or above to attend a programme of learning. Before learners will be able to be certificated for this qualification they will need to be a minimum of 18 years of age.

This qualification leads to paid or voluntary roles in coaching the sport of Rounders to adults and young people children in local Rounders clubs, in schools and in colleges. The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used enable learners to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching other sports, activity leadership, supporting PE in school sport and sports development.

Following a period of practice as a qualified Rounders coach, learners may also choose to follow a programme of training for the:

  • 1st4sport Level 3 Award in the Principles of Coaching Sport
  • 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Coaching (Sport and Physical Activity)

Other roles that the learner may consider exploring to include:

  • activity leader
  • Rounders umpire
  • sports volunteer

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Qualifications Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
