Qualification Number: 601/8263/5

The qualification is designed to provide benefit to you through the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching badminton, including how to effectively plan, conduct and evaluate badminton coaching sessions for participants of all ages. The qualification is composed of five mandatory units.

The qualification is recognised as the industry standard level 2 qualification for coaching badminton by the National Source Group for Badminton in the UK which includes: Badminton England, Badminton Scotland and Badminton Wales.

It is also recognised by and has the support of a range of employers and colleges, as the sole qualification for those looking to begin a career in coaching badminton. The qualification is endorsed by the trade association for coaches, UK Coaching, as meeting its UKCC criteria.

The qualification is designed to prepare coaches for employment in paid or voluntary roles in badminton clubs.

To register for this qualification, you must:

  • hold the 1st4sport Level 1 Award for Assistant Coaches in Badminton or an equivalent
  • be at least 18 years of age (or 17 with a relevant recommendation) to register for the qualification.

This qualification leads to paid or voluntary roles in coaching badminton within a club environment.

The skills and knowledge developed through completion of his qualification may also be used enable you to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching other sports, leadership, supporting PE in school sport and sports development. Following a period of practice as a qualified Level 2 badminton coach, you may also choose to follow a programme of training for the 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate for Head Coaches in Badminton.

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees, and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
