England Squash and Racketball

The Job

England Squash and Racketball along with the other members that make up the national source group for squash (England Squash and Racketball, Scottish Squash, Squash Wales and Ulster Squash) were looking for an organisation to provide them with an awarding function and to redevelop their existing coach education qualifications to enable the governing bodies to achieve UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) endorsement.

The Solution

Prior to UKCC endorsement, squash coaching qualifications were all delivered, assessed and certified in-house. The sport decided to work toward UKCC endorsement and, as part of the process/criteria, were required to get their qualifications accredited on to the nationally qualifications framework.

To fulfil this requirement, 1st4sport Qualifications worked with the sport’s national source group to redevelop its qualification provision to meet the requirements of, and for 1st4sport to gain accreditation on, the National Qualifications Framework. Once accredited, 1st4sport continued to support them by awarding the qualifications, leaving the sport to focus on their workforce and the delivery of the qualifications to the squash-coaching fraternity.

The Results/Benefits

Squash has now gained full UKCC endorsement for the full breadth its coach education programme, a component of which is the three levels of squash coaching qualifications awarded by 1st4sport.

What the Client Says

“1st4sport has been very supportive in the redevelopment of our qualification provision, which has improved not only the content of our qualifications, but the way in which we deliver, assess and quality assure our programmes for now and the future.”
