Structure, Delivery and Assessment of the L2CCF

Qualification Structure

The L2CCF is one of the many optional coaching pathways attached to the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching. The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching is composed of four mandatory units and a number of sport-specific optional pathway units, one of which is coaching football (optional Unit 20). The combination of the football coaching unit with the mandatory units creates the Level 2 Certificate in Football. Candidates who have completed the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching via one optional pathway may be able to claim APL for certain aspects of another pathway.

The qualification is composed of the following four units:

  • Unit 1 – Coaching Principles and Ethics
  • Unit 2 – Plan Coaching Sesssions
  • Unit 3 – Conduct Coaching Sessions
  • Unit 4 – Review Coaching Sessions
  • Unit 20 – Coaching Football (QCA Unit No: R/501/0860)

NB: To complete the L2CCF, candidates must have evidence of attendance on The FA’s workshop ‘Child Protection and Best Practice’ and hold The FA Emergency Aid Certificate (or equivalent). Many of our current recognised centres are separately endorsed by The FA to deliver these components. Recognised centres aspiring to deliver this qualification are required to evidence that they can access the two FA components or facilitate access for all candidates. For more information on either the child protection or emergency aid components, please log on to the FA Learning website at www.thefa.com/falearning.

It is recommended that a delivery programme for the L2CCF should include 115 notional guided learning hours.
