The Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Playwork is primarily aimed at 16–25 year olds who want to start a career in the playwork sector. It could also be suitable for individuals already working in the sector who are looking to gain qualifications and skills, or to organisations already involved in the sector looking to develop and up-skill their staff to deliver a high-quality service to children and young people.

Learners must complete the following mandatory technical certificate in employment awareness to successfully achieve this apprenticeship:

1st4sport Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning (QCF)

Learners must complete the following Functional Skills qualifications to successfully achieve this apprenticeship:

1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in English at Level 1

How You Can Offer 1st4sport’s Qualifications

Non-1st4sport recognised centres

If you are not already a 1st4sport recognised centre, you need to apply to become one by completing a Centre Recognition Application Form. You can now do this online through Athena, the 1st4sport online Quality Assurance System, where you can also apply to become approved for the qualifications that interest you. To access Athena simply call us on 0113-290 7610 to receive a unique access code or fill in the Request for Centre Recognition Application Form and we will send you one.

Existing 1st4sport recognised centres

If you are already a 1st4sport recognised centre and would like to seek approval to deliver any qualifications that can be used as part of an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Playwork, please access Athena and complete the qualification approval process for the qualification you are interested in.
