Developed in partnership with the National Source Group for Tennis, the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Tennis develops learners’ tennis coaching skills, ideally from Level 1, how to plan, conduct and evaluate tennis coaching sessions so that they can coach tennis to players of all ages. Holders of the Certificate will be qualified to lead tennis coaching sessions and can seek employment as a tennis coach.

Who is the Qualification for?

Anyone over 17 years of age who would like to develop and improve his or her tennis coaching skills. Experienced players may decide that they wish to branch out from competing and put something back into the sport by undertaking a coaching qualification, enabling them to pass on the knowledge they have gained to those inexperienced in tennis. Students in further or higher education, studying sports-related coaching qualifications, should pursue this Certificate as a valuable addition to their portfolio of coaching skills. Club coaches, schoolteachers, sports centre staff, youth workers and volunteers would also find that this qualification is excellent in supporting their involvement in the sport by qualifying them to lead tennis coaching sessions.

Why Deliver this Qualification?

Developed with the National Source Group for Tennis and UKCC endorsed

This qualification has been developed with the National Source Group for Tennis, which is made up of representatives from the home country governing bodies of sport for tennis – the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Tennis Scotland, Tennis Wales and the British Tennis Coaches Association (BTCA). This UK-wide standardisation of the delivery of coach education has ensured that the sport has been able to gain UKCC endorsement for the coach education programme within which the qualification sits. The result: you can be confident that this is the only UKCC-endorsed Level 2 tennis coaching qualification available.

Natural progression for the NVQ

This VRQ is ideal for those learners who wish to complete the 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations: Coaching, Teaching and Instructing (Tennis). The VRQ provides confirmation of basic competence as a tennis coach, while the NVQ takes learners on to the next stage – an assessed confirmation of their competence in the workplace.

Learners benefit from a more complete package
