Hockey is a popular sport with the number of clubs, teams and people participating, particularly youths, on the increase over the last few years in the UK. Coaches are therefore heavily in demand. Developed in partnership with the National Source Group for Hockey, the 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Hockey provides learners with an introduction to the principles/practice of safe, ethical and effective management and the coaching of hockey to players of all ages. The qualification is an excellent entry route onto the hockey coaching ladder and allows learners to get experience of coaching without the additional pressure of being responsible for the whole coaching session. The foundation level of knowledge provided allows aspiring hockey coaches to assist a hockey club coach in the coaching of groups of players.
