The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding has been developed in partnership with industry experts in spectator safety to give aspiring stewards vital skills in health and safety, legislation, customer service and conflict management. The Certificate allows learners to apply these in both real and simulated environments, giving them the confidence to become a competent steward. To support the qualification, 1st4sport provides tailor-made PowerPoint presentations to aid delivery, learner resource booklets to support learning and industry-designed assessment tools to ensure high quality, making delivering the course effective and engaging for tutors/assessors and learners. And because the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding provides much of the underpinning knowledge and some practical work for the 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety, learners at those recognised centres offering both qualifications will benefit from having the opportunity to gain a second qualification with minimal additional work.
Nationally recognised, this qualification provides learners with the flexibility to be assessed at any type of live event and the transferability to use the qualification across the industry.

With a recognised Level 2 qualification being a compulsory requirement for stewards working in football stadiums, and it being highly desirable at other live events, the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding is a qualification in demand. Should you already offer the 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety, you could also offer the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding so that your learners can benefit from a more complete offering. The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding is excellent preparation and a natural stepping stone for learners looking to complete the Level 2 NVQ as it provides the underpinning knowledge and some of the practical evidence required to achieve the NVQ. Also, much of the evidence gathered in the completion of the VRQ may be eligible as accreditation of prior learning (APL) towards the Level 2 NVQ.
Qualification eligible for funding
Spectator safety has been highlighted as a priority area within the Active Leisure and Learning Sector Qualifications Strategy, which may provide recognised centres with the opportunity to access possible funding streams. Prerequisites
Learners are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age with a reasonable level of health and fitness.

The qualification is divided into the following units:

There are 76 recommended learning hours for learners to complete the qualification, of which 46 are guided learning hours.

Fees
Fees are charged per learner and provide registration and certification for the qualification, as well as a 1st4sport Learner Pack, learning resources and certificate. If you are not already a 1st4sport recognised centre, but would like to deliver the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding, you will first need to fill in a Centre Recognition Application Form.
