Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime

Overview

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with the Active Communities Network1 and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation2.

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) is accredited at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. Criteria

If you are over 16 years of age and would like to develop and improve your knowledge and skills in the area of using sport to tackle youth crime, then the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) is designed for you.

Outline

Your learning programme will develop your understanding of:

  • how to promote the value of sport as a method for challenging youth crime and anti-social behaviour
  • how to promote the value of sport as a method for challenging youth crime and anti-social behaviour
  • how to facilitate the development of community networks and partnership working
  • how to maintain partnership relationships
  • the Youth Justice System and social exclusion
  • planning sport interventions
  • organising resources for sport interventions
  • facilitating sports interventions
  • monitoring and evaluating sport interventions
  • how to help participants to understand the consequences associated with offending, anti-social and other specific behaviour
  • how to help participants to address and take responsibility for their behaviour
  • how to help participants access development opportunities.

How will my learning programme be structured?

Learning programmes are usually designed by the recognised centre that delivers the qualification. They may, therefore, vary in length and format. Depending on your needs, delivery centres can offer intensive courses or a series of learning events over a period of weeks. Whatever the timescale, all learning programmes should include the following phases:

  • an induction to the qualification and your programme of learning and assessment
  • a learning programme which meets your needs, focusing on the theory and practice of using sport to tackle youth crime
  • a programme of assessment, spread throughout the course.

At the end of the programme, you will be provided with formal feedback on your performance and an action plan for your further development.

Assessment

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) assessment will require you to have an appropriate understanding of the Level 2 Theoretical and Practical Syllabus, which will be assessed via performance, simulation, tasks and assignments.

Fees

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Qualifications Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
