Criteria

The 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Leadership Through Football (QCF) is designed for those over 14 years of age with little experience or involvement in the development of others through football.

The qualification aims to enable young people to develop leadership skills through the development of grass-roots football. Focus will be put on you developing a range of skills as an independent enquirer, team worker, self manager, creative thinker and effective participant. The opportunities for such skills to be used more broadly in sport and within your chosen career will be highlighted.

During your learning programme you will be provided with an introduction to a number of voluntary leadership roles through an engagement with grass-roots football development, including leading football activity sessions, refereeing small-sided games, managing a local small-sided game team, and contributing to the organisation and delivery of a local football festival/event for young people. Your learning programme will provide you with guidance on further opportunities as a sport leader, including how to contribute to grass-roots sport as an administrator, coach, referee, team manager and sport development volunteer. While this qualification is delivered through the medium of grass-roots football, the skills may be used when working with other sports, under appropriate guidance.
