Overview

The 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1 is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed to support learners in the active leisure, learning and well-being sector.

The 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1 is regulated at Level 1 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and supports a number of wider educational programmes, such as apprenticeships and diplomas, in the active leisure, learning and well-being sector. Criteria

If you are over 14 years of age and looking to gain a nationally recognised qualification in mathematics at Level 1, then the 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1 is for you.

Why Study?

The qualification provides you with a nationally recognised qualification in mathematics at Level 1, supporting the development of the three following areas:

  • representing
  • analysing
  • interpreting.

This qualification is seen as an equivalent to a GCSE grade D–G.

On successful completion of the 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1, you will have learnt how to use mathematical skills more effectively in day-to-day life.

How will my programme be structured?

Programmes are usually designed by the recognised centres that deliver the qualification. They may, therefore, vary in length and format. Depending on your needs, delivery centres can offer intensive courses or a series of events over a period of weeks. Whatever the timescale, all programmes should include the following phases:

  • an induction to the qualification
  • a programme of learning covering the syllabus of the qualification
  • an external paper providing a complete assessment of the qualification.

At the end of the programme, you will be provided with a feedback/evaluation session detailing an action plan for further development.

Assessment

The 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1 is assessed using one method:

External assessment: The external assessment requires you to complete an exam paper that focuses on all three 1st4sport Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1 components: representing; analysing; and interpreting.

Fees

Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees, and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, and registration and certification for the qualification.
