The objective of the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Netball (QCF) is to provide a benefit to learners via the skills and knowledge required to enable them to develop high level netball players through effective netball coaching.
The qualification offers an opportunity for learners to be given support to effectively apply the principles of performance profiling, goal setting and designing, planning and evaluating a netball coaching programme and practice.
It also aims to enable learners to create an effective coaching environment, establish supportive working relationships and manage the behaviour of players and others.
This qualification is supported by England Netball, the National Governing Body for Netball recognised by Sport England, the trade association and key employers for netball. A range of technical experts from within England Netball have provided technical input in the development of this qualification.
The qualification is also endorsed by the trade association for coaches, sports coach UK, as meeting its UKCC criteria.
This qualification is designed to prepare aspiring coaches for employment as a netball coach in paid or voluntary roles, potentially within the elite game. It is appropriate for existing Level 2 netball coaches wishing to develop coaching skills in netball.
Learners need to be 18 years of age or above to attend a programme of learning and have regular coaching and match day access to a netball club/team. Before learners will be able to be certificated for this qualification they will need to complete Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Vulnerable Adults training and hold a current first aid qualification that covers basic life support as a minimum.
This qualification leads to paid or voluntary roles in coaching the sport of netball in a variety of settings including working in county/regional academies and national league clubs, as well as local junior/senior netball clubs, schools and local authority community netball scheme.
The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used enable learners to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching other sports, supporting PE in school sport and sports development.
Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
