Overview
The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Netball (QCF) is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with the National Source Group for Netball.
It is regulated at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and forms part of netball’s UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) endorsed coach education programme. Criteria
If you are an adult (over 18 years of age) who has been an active coach in netball for a minimum of two years, or have completed the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Netball (QCF) (or its predecessor – 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Netball) and would like to develop and improve your coaching skills, then the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Netball (QCF) is designed for you.
Why Study?
It forms part of a structured and progressive programme of sports coaching and other related qualifications, offering you access and involvement in introducing others to the sport of netball.

On successful completion of the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Netball (QCF), you should be able to:

- understand the principles of planning coaching sessions
- understand the principles of skill development through coaching sessions
- understand how the stages of participants’ development impacts on their coaching

- understand principles of mental preparation in sport
- understand how to support participant awareness of drugs in sport
- understand how to ensure participants’ safety during sport-specific coaching sessions
- understand how to ensure equitable coaching of sport-specific activities
- be able to review participants’ needs for a series of netball coaching sessions
- be able to produce a series of netball coaching session plans
- be able to plan the evaluation of a series of netball coaching sessions
- be able to prepare resources for the netball coaching session

How will my learning programme be structured?
Learning programmes are usually designed by the recognised centre that delivers the qualification. They may, therefore, vary in length and format. Depending on your needs, delivery centres can offer intensive courses or a series of learning events over a period of weeks. Whatever the timescale, all learning programmes should include the following phases:
- an induction process that will provide you with an introduction to the qualification and ongoing support throughout the programme of training and extended study, to ensure you understand the requirements of the qualification. In addition, you will receive support and guidance on accessing learning resources that support the development of your knowledge
- a programme of training, during which you will be provided with the predominantly practical and technical information required to enable you to fulfil the role. You will undertake a series of short internal assessments of coaching netball
- achievement of knowledge via a structured programme of learning and/or home study, and/or distance learning modules
- further development of your application of the role of a coach, via practical coaching practice over a period of time, and the development of a coaching log
- an independent assessment of your practical coaching.
At the end of the programme, you will be provided with formal feedback on your performance and an action plan for your further development.
Assessment
The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Netball (QCF)assessment will require you to:
- complete a task about coaching philosophy
- complete a task about coaching styles
- complete a competition checklist
- produce a health and safety log for all venues used to deliver sessions
- produce individual plans of delivery for six netball coaching sessions
- produce a coaching log of sessions delivered
- deliver and evaluate two netball coaching sessions that will be observed and assessed by an appropriately qualified assessor.
Fees
Recognised centres offering this qualification determine their own fees and they will vary from centre to centre. The fees charged should entitle you to a programme of learning and assessment, registration and certification for the qualification, a 1st4sport Learner Pack and an appropriate learning resource.
