New Qualifications Framework

The Qualifications and Credit Framework replaces the National Qualifications Framework, see what this means for you.

New qualifications framework

As you may be aware the new education framework, the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), went live in September 2008. The QCF is a new way of recognising skills and qualifications that will completely replace the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by the end of 2010. Funding of qualifications on either Framework is expected to continue until August 2009.

In recognition of these changes 1st4sport is in the process of migrating the majority of its qualifications across to the QCF. Indeed we have started this process with new stewarding and employment awareness qualifications recently QCF accredited.

What does this mean for you?

We would recommend that as soon as we have a new QCF qualification in an area in which you deliver, you seek approval to deliver the new qualification. This will not only allow you time to adjust to the requirements and delivery of the new qualification but enable you to take advantage of any changes in funding available to QCF qualifications.

How to apply?

If you are already a 1st4sport recognised centre approved to deliver the NQF version of the qualification of interest, all you need to do is fill in the 2.2 Qualification Approval Update Form, located in the Centre Recognition and Qualification Approval folder on the CD-ROM contained in your Recognised Centre Handbook. If you have misplaced your CD-ROM, please call us on 0113-290 7610 to request the form be sent out to you.

If you are already a 1st4sport recognised centre but not approved to deliver the NQF version of the qualification, you only need to apply to deliver the qualifications of interest by completing a Qualification Approval Form.

If you are not already a 1st4sport recognised centre, you need to apply to become one by completing a Centre Recognition Application Form you can also apply to deliver the qualifications that interest you at the same time.
